MMA REPORTER ARIEL HELWANI KICKED OUT OF UFC 199
=================================================
Ariel Helwani, one of the best reporters in the sport of mma, was thrown out of the Forum during UFC 199. Security escorted Helwani and two of his co-workers just before the main event of the night was set to begin. The longtime reporter was also told that he was getting a lifetime ban from all future UFC events and press conferences.
Ariel Helwani has been covering the sport of mixed martial arts for many years now and he has earned many awards for his great work. During UFC 199, he reported that Brock Lesnar was going to be returning to the UFC at UFC 200 and that an announcement was coming from the promotion soon. This report is what angered UFC officials, because they felt that he had ruined a big surprise that they wanted to keep secret until the later part of the UFC 199 pay per view.
Helwani wrote on Twitter that "I love this sport and this job with all my heart. Did nothing unethical. I reported fight news. That's it. And then we're banned for life." He also wrote "Here's hoping cooler heads prevail. I sincerely love every fighter and fan of this sport. You have helped me realize a dream. Thank you."
Hopefully the UFC reconsiders Hewani's lifetime ban because this move by them was 100% wrong and he has been a great reporter for the growing of the sport of mma.

UFC VETERAN JAMES TE HUNA RETIRES FROM MMA
============================================
James Te Huna, a light heavyweight fighting out of Australia, has decided to call it a career and retire from active competition. At 34 years old, the slugger has been in the UFC since 2010 and has competed for them in 10 fights in a row. While fighting for the worlds biggest organization, Te Huna won five and lost five fights against some of the best 205 pounders in the world.
Te Huna's biggest career wins came early in his UFC run, beating the likes of Igor Pokrajec, Aaron Rosa, Joey Beltran and Ryan Jimmo. Unfortunately after winning four fights in a row, he went on to finish his career losing his last four bouts. In those defeats he was finished in the first round by Glover Teixeira, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Nate Marquardt and Steve Bosse.
Winning or losing, James Te Huna would usually be involved in very exciting fights with someone getting finished. Although he never won any titles in mma, he definately showed a champions heart every time he competed in the sport.

MAYHEM MILLER MISSES WEIGHT BY 24 POUNDS FOR VENATOR FC TITLE FIGHT IN ITALY
=============================================
Jason "Mayhem" Miller was scheduled to fight in Italy this weekend for the Venator FC middleweight title against the reigning champion Luke Barnett. At the official weigh-ins friday afternoon, Miller came in and missed weight by a staggering 24 pounds.
Barnett, who did make weight at 185 pounds, was offered additional money to fight Miller at a catch weight, but he declined the offer. Instead he will defend his title against a fighter who was scheduled to fight on the prelims of the event, his name is Stefan Croitoru. Miller will also remain on the card, facing Croitoru's original opponent, Mattia "Aittam" Schiavolin in a light heavyweight bout.
"Mayhem" has not fought a mma bout in almost four years. His last fight took place at UFC 146 on May 26th, 2012, in which he was defeated by CB Dollaway by a unanimous decision. Since that fight, Miller's life has kind of spiraled out of control. He has had many troubles with the law, getting arrested multiple times. He has also posted videos and done interviews where he seems to be acting crazy or very intoxicated.
Venator FC officials stated that they gave "Mayhem" this opportunity to fight on their event because they feel everyone deserves a second chance and that they felt he deserved to make a living doing what he has done in the past, fighting. Although the title fight between Miller and Barnett had to be scrapped, Venator has atleast gotten alot of attention thanks to Miller's" unbelievable antics.

WITH WEIDMAN HURT - MICHAEL BISPING NOW FACES LUKE ROCKHOLD AT UFC 199 FOR THE MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE
===================================================
A few days ago it was reported that former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman injured himself during training camp and that he wouldn't be able to compete against current UFC Champion Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 on June 4th, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.
With the rematch scrapped, UFC officials quickly scrambled to find a replacement to save the main event title fight. England's Michael Bisping was announced as the guy who would fill the vacancy on short notice.
Coming off of his biggest career win, defeating Anderson Silva in his last fight, Bisping finally gets his first title shot in the UFC. He will come into the bout with a 29-7 record and also riding a 3 fight winning streak. This will be his second time facing Luke Rockhold. In their first fight, Rockhold submitted Bisping in the second round with a guillotine choke.

BELLATOR RELEASES WILL BROOKS AND STRIPS MINAKOV
=================================================
On saturday Bellator made two major announcements concerning two of their reigning Champions. Lightweight champion Will Brooks was released by the promotion and heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov was stripped of his title.
The 155 pound title holder Will Brooks has made it known publicly that he wasn't happy with his current Bellator deal. In July his current contract was set to expire, so Bellator decided that they wouldn't resign him and simply gave him his walking papers two months early. During Bellator 154, it was announced that former Champ Michael Chandler would face Patricky "Pitbull" Freire for the now vacant title in june at Bellator 157 Dynamite 2.
As for the heavyweight title. Bellator had to strip the heavyweight belt from Minakov due to his not defending the title in over two years. Minakov last defended the belt at Bellator 115 on April 4th, 2014 when he defeated Cheick Kongo by a unanimous decision. Since that defence, the Russian has had trouble getting a work visa to come and fight in the USA, so Bellator gave him some leeway, but it seems that has ended now.

DANIEL CORMIER INJURED OUT OF UFC 197 TITLE FIGHT
================================================
An injury has forced UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier to pull out of his main event title fight at UFC 197 against Jon Jones.
Scheduled to take place on April 23rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the fight was suppose to headline the pay per view event. The match is a rematch of a fight which took place January 3rd, 2015 in which Jon Jones successfully defended his title by beating Cormier by a unanimous decision. After that fight, then Champion Jones got into trouble outside of the cage and his title was stripped from him. Cormier went on to win the title and he also defended the belt once. As for Jones, he hasn't fought since that fight with DC.
UFC Officials haven't said weather Jones will remain on the UFC 197 card, or if another fight will be added to fill the void.

================================================
Next weekends UFC FIGHT NIGHT 85 is Brisbane, Australia has had two fighters withdraw from the event. Justin Scroggins and Abel Trujillo have both been forced off the card with just one week until the event.
Abel "Killa" Trujillo couldn't get a visa in order to travel to Australia. His opponent, Ross Pearson will now face Chad Laprise instead. Laprise was suppose to fight Allan Patrick "Nuguette" Silva Alves on the Brisbane event, so now the UFC will need to find a replacement to face the Brazilian fighter on the prelims of the card.
Justin Scroggins suffered an undisclosed injury forcing him to pullout of his fight with Ben Nguyen. As of now that fight has been completely scrapped.

JAKE ELLENBERGER CUT BY THE UFC
================================
Veteran welterweight Jake "The Juggernaut" Ellenberger has been released by the UFC today. His release comes on the heels of a two fight losing streak, and he has only won once in his last six fights.
The 30 year old Ellenberger has fought in 41 pro mma fights in his career with 16 of those coming under the UFC banner. While in the UFC, he has gone 9-7 with big wins over Josh Koscheck, Diego Sanchez, Jake Shields, Nate Marquardt, and Jay Hieron.
Considering his age and fan popularity, Ellenberger shouldn't have any problem finding somewhere else to fight. In his 30 wins, he has finished 24 of them by knock out or submission which is exactly what fans like to see in our fighters today.

CHRIS LEBEN COMEBACK OFF DUE TO MEDICAL CONDITION
==================================================
A few weeks ago it was announced that Chris Leben signed to fight with Bellator and would end his two year retirement. Unfortunately that plan is now scrapped due to a medical condition found in a recent physical taken by the fighter.
The 35 year old, former UFC fighter, has a serious heart condition that only allows 18% of blood flow to his heart. The heart condition was discovered when Leben went in for mandatory medical tests, following his Bellator signing, and failed multiple EKG tests. It was also revealed that Leben has an oversized left ventricle and that he may need a heart transplant in the near future.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to "The Crippler" Chris Leben and we hope his condition will improve and he can live a normal long healthy life.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 83 ADDS 3 REPLACEMENT FIGHTERS
==============================================
During this past week, 3 fighters had to pull out of their fights scheduled for this sunday at UFC Fight Night 83.
Sarah "Cheesecake" Moras and Trevor "Hot Sauce" Smith were hurt during training, and John "Hands of Stone" Lineker came down with a bad case of dengue fever, knocking all three fighters out of this weekends event.
With less then a week until showtime, UFC officials had to scramble and find suitable replacements to fill the voids left by the late injury withdrawals.
Replacing John Lineker and fighting Cody Garbrandt on the main card is Brazilian Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes. Undefeated in five professional bouts, the 32 year old Mendes has finished all of his opponents in either the first or second round.
Also stepping up on very short notice, Anthony "Lionheart" Smith will replace Trevor Smith and take on Leonardo Augusto "Leleco" Guimaraes. "Lionheart" is currently on a seven fight winning streak and in his last fight he won the Victory FC middleweight title by stopping former UFC fighter Josh Neer in the opening round. With a record of 24 wins and 11 loses this will be Smith's second stint in the UFC. His first run with the UFC only lasted one fight, in which he was defeated by Antonio Braga Neto by a first round kneebar.
The third fighter to be added this week is Kelly Faszholz. Replacing Sarah Moras, she will take on Lauren Murphy in the womens bantamweight division on the prelims. Faszholtz is undefeated in three professional fights, submitting all three of her opponents in those matches.

Headlined by a welterweight fight pitting Cowboy versus Cowboy. The February 21st card originally had 14 fights on it. Unfortunately within the last week, alot of sudden changes have had to be made to the lineup.
A main card welterweight fight between Brandon Thatch and Siyar "The Great" Bahadurzada was taken off this card and moved to UFC 196 because Thatch wasn't cleared to fight in Pennsylvania due to a medication he was taking that wasn't cleared by the state commission.
The second casualty was a womens bantamweight prelim fight between Sarah Moraes and Lauren Murphy. Moraes suffered an injury and had to pull out of the fight a week before showtime. As of yet, no replacement has been reported.
With two fights off already, the injury curse hit again today times two. One of the better fights on the card pitting John "Hands of Stone" Lineker against Cody Garbrandt was scrapped due to Lineker coming down with Dengue Fever. The other fight called off was a middleweight bout between Travis "Hot Sauce" Smith and Leonardo Augusto "Leleco" Guimaraes. Smith came down with an injury and had to pull out of that fight as well.
With just under 6 days left until UFC Fight Night 83 it is unknown if a replacement fight or fighters will be sought to fill the spots left open by all the injuries that hit this card. If no more changes are made, the event still has 10 fights remaining.

TWO TITLE FIGHTS ANNOUNCED FOR UFC 197
=======================================
The UFC announced that UFC 197 will take place on April 23rd, 2016 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. UFC officials have so far only scheduled two fights for the event, and both will be for titles.
Headlining the event will be a light heavyweight title fight between current champion Daniel Cormier (17-1) and former champion Jon "Bones" Jones (21-1). This is a rematch in which Jones won a close unanimous decision at UFC 182. Since that fight, Jones was stripped of the title due to outside legal troubles, giving Cormier the chance to win the belt with a win over Anthony Johnson in May 2015.
In the co-main event, flyweight champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson (23-2-1) will defend his belt against the undefeated Henry Cejudo (10-0). Since winning the title in 2012, "Mighty Mouse" has already defended the title seven times. He has looked unstoppable at 125 pounds and has also climbed to the top of the pound for pound best. Cejudo will definately be the underdog coming into this fight, but the former Olympian hopes he can find a way to top one of the most dominant champions in the UFC.

BELLATOR SIGNS CHRIS LEBEN
==========================
Bellator Fighting Championships has had a busy week signing fighters. On Inside MMA last night, Bellator President Scott Coker announced that Bellator has signed former UFC fighter Chris Leben.
At 35 years old, Leben is currently on a four fight losing streak, hasn't fought since december of 2013 and he last won a mma fight in 2011. It has also been reported that Leben has had legal and drug problems for many years. Bellator decided to ignore all these downsides and still decided to sign the middleweight.
With a record of 22 wins and 11 loses, Bellator hopes that Leben's popularity will bring in numbers to his fights. Leben fought in the UFC for many years and also appeared on the Ultimate Fighter when it first aired. "The Crippler" has also won some big fights, beating guys like Wanderlei Silva, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Patrick Cote, Mike Swick and Alessio Sakara.

BELLATOR SIGNS SERGEI KHARITONOV
=================================
Russian heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov has signed a multi fight contract with Bellator Fighting Championships. With a pro mma record of 23 wins and only 5 defeats, Kharitonov is definately one of the biggest free agent signings for Bellator to date. Of his 23 victories, all but one have come by way of knockout or submission.
Kharitonov will come to Bellator with a five fight winning streak. The Russian has competed in some of the biggest promotions around the world including Strikeforce, Pride FC, M1 Global, Dream, K1 Hero's and Rings. He has beaten top notch heavyweights like Andrei Arlovski, Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, Mike Russow and Pedro Rizzo.
Bellator's heavyweight division is still kind of thin rosterwise, so Kharitonov should get an opportunity to fight for their title really soon.

TITAN FC RETURNS ON MARCH 4TH WITH 3 TITLE FIGHTS
=================================================
The promotion Titan Fighting Championships is scheduled to put on their first event of the year on March 4th. The event will take place in Washington at the Clark County Event Center and it will feature 3 title fights.
Headlining the event will be a bantamweight title bout between former Titan FC Champion Brett "The Pikey" Johns (12-0) against Ricky Simon (7-0). Brett Johns held the Titan FC 135 pound title, but was stripped of the belt when he missed weight in his last title defense. The 23 year old fighter from Wales has held titles in three promotions already and looks to remain an undefeated propect to watch. His opponent Ricky Simon is also undefeated and he will have the home crowd on his side as he is from the state of Washington.
In the co-main event, featherweight Champion Andre Harrison (11-0) will put his title on the line against former UFC fighter Steven "Super" Siler (28-14). Harrison won the belt in 2015 and also defended the title once, winning both those fights by unanimous decision. Siler comes into this fight on a 5 fight winning streak, with all of those bouts coming in 2015.
The third title fight will put flyweight Champion Tim Elliott (12-6-1) versus Pedro Nobre (17-1-2). Elliott won the Titan FC flyweight title by beating a Brazilian fighter named Iliardo Santos. He then defended the belt against another Brazilian guy named Felipe Efrain. Elliott looks to make it three in a row against Brazilian foes as he now will fight Nobre. Nobre comes into this title fighting picking up wins in his first two fights fighting for Titan FC. In 21 bouts, the Brazilian has only lost once and he definately will be a tough test for the Champion.
One more fight scheduled for the Titan FC 37 event is a lightweight matchup between former Champs Desmond Green (15-5) and Pat Healy (32-21). Green held the Titan FC 145 pound title and Healy is the former lightweight Champ.

In his career, Henderson has held titles in the UFC and WEC, and has beaten some of the best in the world. Some of the guys he has defeated are Nate Diaz, Gilbert Melendez, Clay Guida, Josh Thompson, Donald Cerrone twice and Frankie Edgar twice.
Joining the Bellator roster, Smooth has a number of opponents he could face. Champion Will Brooks already has said he wants to fight him. A rematch with Josh Thompson could also be a good fight to make.
The UFC's loss is definately Bellator's gain, and Benson Henderson will help Bellator gain ground on the number one promotion in the world.

WERDUM INJURED AND OUT OF UFC 196 TITLE FIGHT
=============================================
On sunday it was announced that Cain Velasquez was injured and had to pull out of his rematch with Champion Fabricio Werdum. Stipe Miocic stepped up and decided to fight Werdum on only two weeks notice. Oh how quickly things sometimes change in the mma world. On monday, the Champion Werdum announced that he was also injured and that he would not be fighting at UFC 196. Even though he agreed to the Miocic short notice fight, after a day of thinking it over with his coaches, it seems like the Brazilian had a change of heart. UFC CUTS SIX FIGHTERS
=====================
This week, the UFC has removed six fighters from its web page roster. What does that mean? It basically means that the fighters have been cut and that they no longer work for Zuffa, the company that owns the UFC. Those fighters that got the axe were Roger Gracie (6-2), Dave Herman (21-6), Vinny Magalhaes (11-7), John "The One" Maguire (18-6), Bristol Marunde (12-9), and Ednaldo "Lula Molusko" Oliveira (13-2-1).
To me, the most surprising of the cuts was Roger Gracie. In July, Gracie made his UFC debute after being brought over from the now defunct StrikeForce organization. He lost a unanimous decision to Tim Kennedy, but being that he went 5-1 in StrikeForce, I thought the UFC would give him atleast one more fight. Well I was wrong, and now the 31 year old Brazilian will have to look to fight somewhere else.

With two weeks until Invicta FC 6, an injury has forced another change to the card. Julia Budd was scheduled to fight Ediane Gomes (10-2) on the main card, but an injury to Budd has left her unable to compete at the event. Replacing Budd on short notice will be Charmaine Tweet (4-3).
Charmaine "Not So Sweet" Tweet comes into her Invicta debute on a three fight winning streak. At 36 years old, she started her mma career in 2011, and lost to Rhonda Rousey in her pro debute. Of Tweets victories, all four have come by way of first round submissions.

UFC 165 IN TORONTO HEADLINED BY LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT
============================================================
On September 31st, 2013, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will once again hold an event in the city of Toronto, Canada. Headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Champion Jon "Bones" Jones (18-1) and Alexander Gustaffson (15-1), UFC 165 will be held at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.
Jones has already defended his title a UFC record five times, since winning the belt at UFC 128 against then Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. He is also on a nine fight winning streak, during the span beating former Champions like Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Also since winning the UFC title, Jones has finished all but one of his opponents by knockout or submission.
The challenger Gustaffson is currently on a six fight winning streak. In his last fight, he beat former UFC Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua by a one sided Unanimous Decision. The Swedish fighter also has wins in the UFC against Matt Hamill, Thiago Silva, Vladimir Matyushenko, James TeHuna, and Cyrille Diabate. Current Jones is looking to be a 8 to 1 favorite in this fight.

JEFF CURRAN PULLS OUT OF RFA 8 TITLE FIGHT WITH SERGIO PETTIS
============================================================
Last night, flyweight veteran Jeff Curran announced that he was pulling out of his title fight at Ressurection Fighting Alliance 8 against Sergio Pettis (7-0). Curran's reason for pulling out of the June 21st headliner in Milwaukee, was because his pet dog died, and he needed to be there for his family.
With only nine days left until the event, RFA officials had to scramble to find a replacement to fight for the Inaugural RFA flyweight title against 19 year old Pettis. That lucky man turned out to be Dillard Pegg (4-1) from Ohio. Pegg has already fought four times in 2013, winning all of those matches by finishing his opponents in the first round.

TOMORROWS MARKES VERSUS BRUNSON FIGHT CANCELED
====================================================
A middleweight fight between Ronny Markes (14-1) and Derrick Brunson (10-2), at saturdays UFC on Fuel 10 event, has been canceled. The reason for the cancelation is that Markes was involved in a car accident and was hurt. He suffered a concusion in the crash, and also has back and neck pains from the wreck, and definately would not be cleared to fight by tommorrow. With only 24 hours to go until the event, there is no time left to find a replacement to fight Brunson.
Im sure if Brunson makes weight today, he will receive his show money. Hopefully Markes isn't hurt too seriously from the accident and hopefully he will be back in the cage very soon.

SHOGUN RUA OUT OF UFC 161
===========================
After "Lil Nog" injury, UFC officials entertained the idea of finding a suitable replacement for him with just 12 days until the event. Chael Sonnen campaigned for the fight on his Twitter feed, but visa issues kept him from being able to fight Rua. Now the UFC has confirmed that Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will also be pulled from the event and the fight will be scraped all together, leaving 11 fights left on the card.

LIL NOG INJURED OUT OF UFC 161 FIGHT WITH SHOGUN RUA
====================================================
"Lil Nog" Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (21-5) suffered a herniated disc injury during training and will be forced to withdraw from his rematch with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (21-7) at UFC 161. With less then two weeks to go until the event, the UFC doesn't have much time to find a replacement for the co main event.
The "Lil Nog" and "Shogun" Rua rematch was one of the most anticipated matches on the already weak card and it was moved up into the co main event slot after the events original headliner was called off. Now unless UFC officials can find a suitable substitute, the event might just loss another fight.
If indeed a replacement can't be found, the UFC's only option would be to bump one of the prelims up to the main card. The prelim most likely to take that spot is a welterweight fight between Jake Shields (27-6-1) and Tyron Woodley (11-1) which would be a huge step down from the Rua-Nog rematch.

=====================================================
Yesterday Che Mills missed weight for his Cage Warriors welterweight title fight against Champion Cathal Pendred. He weighed in at 170.7 pounds, less then one pound over the limit, and now the title is no longer on the line and the fight will be only three rounds instead of five. For missing weight, Mills will also be deducted 25% of his fight purse. This will be the English fighters first fight back since being cut by the UFC and it's also his first fight with the Cage Warriors promotion. Mills signed a 5 fight contract with Cage Warriors a few weeks ago and this will be the first fight on that deal.

FORREST GRIFFIN CALLS IT A CAREER
=================================
Former UFC light heavyweight Champion and The Ultimate Fighter season one winner, Forrest Griffin announced this week that he will call it a career and retire from professional mma.
One of the more popular fighters in the UFC, at age 33, Griffins retirement comes 10 months after his last fight in which he defeated Tito Ortiz by a unanimous decision. After the Ortiz fight, Griffin ran out of the cage suddenly, and UFC President Dana White had to chase him down and pull Griffin back into the cage for a final interview.
Also after the Ortiz fight, it was reported that Griffin was allowed a TRT exception for the fight. His opponent Tito Ortiz was mad that Griffin was allowed to be on TRT, and said that Griffin was a cheater for using it. Dana White was also quoted as saying that "If fighters need to be on TRT, they need to retire" and is opposed to TRT exceptions.
It was also reported this week that Forrest Griffin and Stephen Bonnar will both be inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame.

UFC 160 QUICK RECAP
=====================
UFC 160 played out pretty much as most of us expected. Cain Velasquez is still the heavyweight Champion, Junior Dos Santos is still the number one contender, and the lightweight division is still the most stacked weight class in all of mma.
Cain Velasquez beat Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva even more impressively then he did in their first fight. Cain finished the Brazilian quickly, ending the fight with a TKO in the first round, one minute and twentyone seconds into the opening frame.
In the co main event, former UFC Champion Junior Dos Santos slugged it out with Mark Hunt for most of three rounds, finally TKOing Hunt with a spinning kick and punches with less then a minute to go in the fight. Although Dos Santos controled most of the fight, Hunt did land a few good shoots to make things interesting, but in the end they weren't enough to win him any rounds. Afterwards both JDS and Hunt were awarded $50,000 for fight of the night. With Cain's and JDS's impressive victories last night, they set up a third showdown for the UFC heavyweight title between the two, sometime later this year.
The biggest surprise of the night came when TJ Grant made short work of Gray Maynard, knocking him down numerous times until the referee finally waved the fight off. With the victory, Grant earned a title shot against Benson Henderson, and he also netted $50,000 for knockout of the night. Since dropping down to the lightweight division, TJ Grant is undefeated at 155 and he has won five fights in a row.
In the other lightweight fight on the main card, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone dominated StrikeForce import KJ Noons. For three rounds, Cerrone out punched, out kicked, and out grappled Noons, bloodying up KJ's face in the process. With the unanimous decision victory, "Cowboy" gets back in the winning column and improves his UFC record to 7-2.
Glover Teixiera submitted James Te Huna with a guillotine choke in the first round. Having the only submission in the event, the Brazilian automatically got the submission of the night bonus of $50,000. With the victory, Teixiera's winning streak is now up to 19 in a row and he is also 4-0 in the UFC.

ALISTAIR OVEREEM FIGHTS TRAVIS BROWNE IN BOSTON
================================================
UFC President Dana White said that the UFC On Fox Sports One 1 event will be stacked with alot of good fights involving some of the biggest names in the promotion. Taking place in Boston, Massachusetts at the TD Garden, yesterday a heavyweight match was announced for the event. Alistair Overeem (36-12) and Travis Browne (14-1-1) will do battle inside the octagon come August 17th.
Both fighters are ranked in the top 10 of the UFC rankings and might be a win or two away from a title shot.
Before being knocked out by Antonio "Big Foot" Silva in his last fight, Alistair Overeem was on a 8 fight winning streak and was unbeaten in his last 12 matches. During that span, "The Demolition Man" won the StrikeForce and Dream heavyweight titles. He also competed in the K1 heavyweight grand prix, and won that crown too. Of his 36 career wins, 15 have come by knockout or TKO, 19 by submission, and only two by judges decision. Overeem has fought many of the best fighters in the sport of mma, and holds victories over Brock Lesnar, Fabricio Werdum, Mark Hunt, Sergei Kharitonov, an Vitor Belfort twice.
Travis "Hapa" Browne has been very impressive since becoming a pro in 2009. In 16 fights, he has only lost one time, that being to Antonio "Big Foot" Silva. He has fought seven times for the UFC, and has wins over Gabriel Gonzaga, Chad Griggs, Stefan Struve, Rob Broughton, and James McSweeney. Of his 14 wins, 10 have been by knockout or technical knockout.

RENAN BARAO INJURED & OUT OF UFC 161 TITLE FIGHT
================================================
UFC Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao has suffered a foot injury during training camp, and he will not be able to defend his title at UFC 161. Scheduled to headline the event against Eddie Wineland, Barao's injury forces the UFC to bump a light heavyweight fight between Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson to the top spot on the card. It is unknown at this time if Wineland will remain on the card and fight in a non title fight against someone else.
It has also been reported that heavyweight Stipe Miocic has an opponent change for the event. Originally scheduled to fight Soa "The Hulk" Palelei, that fight was scrapped by UFC officials in favor of Miocic versus Roy Nelson. I guess with the Barao injury, they're hoping Roy Nelson on the card can help out the PPV sales alittle bit.
UFC 161 is scheduled to take place on June 15th, 2013 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The main card airs live on PPV at 10:PM eastern time.

===========================================================
Bellator today announced the signing of three top English lightweight fighters. Paul Sass, Rob Sinclair and Martin Stapleton have all agreed to long term contracts with the organization and should make their debutes for the promotion soon.

Sass has beaten top fighters like Jacob Volkman, Michael Johnson, Mark Holst, Jason Young, and also has beaten the other two Bellator signed fighters Sinclair and Stapleton.
Rob Sinclair (12-2) currently holds the BAMMA lightweight title which he won by decisioning former UFC fighter Andre Winner. At age 33, he is the oldest of the three signed fighters. He is currently on a five fight winning streak and has won nine of his fights by KO or TKO.
Martin Stapleton (12-1) won the Cage Contender Fight Stars Lightweight Tournament Championship this past december by beating three opponents in one night. He also held the Clash Of Warriors Lightweight title back in 2008. An all-round fighter, Stapleton has great standup skills and is just as good with his grappling.

===============================
Earlier today, former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Shane Carwin announced his retirement through his twitter.
Carwin wrote on his Twitter feed "Officially retired 2day. Thank you to my family, friends, and fans. Dream Big. God Bless."
Carwin hasn't fought since 2011, and has been plagued by serious injuries during the latter part of his career. At age 38, it seems like a good time for the former Champ to call it a career. He finishes his pro mma career with 12 wins and only 2 defeats with 7 knockouts and 5 submissions in his victories.

UFC 159 CURSED WITH INJURIES
============================
UFC 159 will probably be remembered most for the nasty injuries and unusual stoppages that happened throughout the event. In the main event, UFC light heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones over-power Chael Sonnen and TKO'd him at the end of the first round. Although the ref maybe stopped the fight alittle too quickly, most people were talking about an injury the Champ suffered during the bout. Jones broke his big toe on the left side, and didn't notice the injury until after the fight, when Joe Rogan was about to interview him.
In the co-main event, Michael Bisping beat Alan Belcher by a Technical Unanimous Decision. The fight was stopped during the third round with less then a minute left, because Belcher's eye ball was accidently cut. The injury began bleeding and Belcher couldn't see out of it so the correct decision was made to go to the score cards alittle early.
In a pair of prelim fights, the injuries and accidental injury stoppages happened as well. A lightweight fight between Rustam Khabilov and Yancy Medeiros came to a halt quickly in the opening round, when Medeiros thumb was broken on a slam by Khabilov. In another fight, a eye poke early in the third round caused an evenly close fought fight between Gian Villante and Ovince St. Preux to go to the judges scorecards just thirty seconds into the third round. Somehow the third round was scored and St. Preux got the technical majority decision victory.

Ronda Rousey To Be Head Coach On TUF 18
===================================
UFC womens bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey will be one of the head coaches on The Ultimate Fighter season 18. The first ever female head coach, Rousey has appeared on the reality show before, but only as a guest coach. It is believed that the winner of the April 13th fight between Cat "Alpha" Zingano & Miesha Tate will decide who the opposing coach will be and Rousey's next opponent as well. Season 18 will have both men and women contestants from the 135 pound bantamweight division.

Flyweights Jussier "Formiga" & Chris Cariaso Set To Fight At UFC On FX 8
=========================================================
On May 18th, 2013, Brazil will once again play host to a UFC event. UFC on FX 8 will be headlined by a middleweight fight between Vitor Belfort & StrikeForce Champion Luke Rockhold. Last night it was reported that flyweights Jussier "Formiga" Da Silva (14-2) & Chris Cariaso (14-4) will fight each other most likely during the prelims.
Both "Formiga" and Cariasco are coming off loses in their last bouts. The Brazilian Jussier Da Silva lost in his UFC debut to John Dobson by a TKO in the second round. Before that fight, he was on a five fight winning streak, and was even ranked as the number one flyweight in the world. For Cariasco, he was submitted in the third round in a fight he was controling against John Moraga. Before that defeat, the American Cariasco was on a three fight winning streak, beating Takaya Mizugaki, Vaugn Lee, & Josh Freguson, all by decision.
With the UFC looking to trim down their roster, this might be a must win for both fighters as two loses in a row in the UFC usually means a cut slip.

UFC SIGNS FOUR MORE FEMALE FIGHTERS
===================================
The UFC 135-pound women's division roster is up to six fighters now. Ronda Rousey is scheduled to fight Liz Camouche for the title at the end of the month. Earlier in the week, it was reported that Miesha Tate (13-3) will fight Cat Zingano (5-0) at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, which takes place April 13th in Las Vegas, and today it was announced that Sara McMan (6-0) and Alexis Davis (13-5) were also signed by the UFC.
UFC President has stated that for now, the UFC will only have one female division, and that would be the bantamweight division at 135 pounds. This is horrible news for another female fighter, Cristiane " Cyborg " Santos. Satos has said that she wouldn't be able to make the 135 pound limit, and she has asked for a contract release from Zuffa. It appears that the UFC might indeed release the fomer StrikeForce Champion, and let her go fight elsewhere.

Nah-Shon Burrell Fights Yuri Villefort At UFC 157
================================================
A welterweight bout between Nah-Shon Burrell (8-2) and Yuri Villefort (6-1) has been added to the prelims of the UFC 157 card set to take place in Anaheim, on february 23rd, 2013. Both men are StrikeForce fighters that have been brought over to the UFC after the Zuffa buyout, and both of them will be making their UFC debutes.
Burrell is coming into this fight after losing by a first round TKO in his last StrikeForce bout. Before that defeat, he had won six matches in a row, and won his first three StrikeForce fights. At age 23, he is a young exciting fighter, that has alot of power in his hands, finishing six of his eight wins by knockout.
Yuri Villefort is also a young rising star, but he is also coming into this fight off of a loss. The 21 year old, suffered the first defeat in his career in his only StrikeForce fight, losing by a split decision to Quinn Mulhern. Before that loss, Villefort also had a six fight winning streak, winning two of those by knockout and three by submission. He is equally dangerous in his standing game and his ground work, and he can finish the bout almost anywhere.

AKIHIRO GONO RETIRES AFTER 18 YEAR CAREER
=========================================
An mma veteran of 57 fights, Japanese fighter Akihiro Gono (32-18-7) retired from the sport last night after his quick TKO loss to Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler. The loss was Gono's third straight defeat, and at the Bellator 67 post fight conference, the veteran let it be known that this was his last fight and he would now be retiring from the sport after 18 years. Gono made his pro debute back in 1994. He has fought for the best organizations in the sport including the UFC, Pride FC, Deep, Sengoku, and Pancrase. He holds victories over Gegard Mousasi, Hector Lombard, Tamdan McCrory, Yuki Kondo, and Ivan Salavarry just to name a few of the top guys he had beaten.
One thing I can say about Gono's career, is that he was usually a very entertaining fighter, and win or lose he would always win the crowds over that he was competing in front of.

HECTOR LOMBARD SIGNS WITH THE UFC
==================================
Bellator Middleweight Champion, Hector Lombard has officially signed to fight with the Ultimate Fighting Championships. News of the signing came from the fighter himself as he released the news on his personal Twitter account.
The Cuban born fighter has posted an awesome pro mma record of 31 wins, 2 loses, and 1 draw. He has also won titles in three different organizations, winning the Bellator Fighting Championships Middleweight title, the Australian Fighting Championship Middleweight title, and the Cage Fighting Championships Middleweight title.
Lombard is currently on a 20 fight win streak and he hasn't lost a fight since 2006. While fighting in Bellator, he won the organizations title and won all 8 fights he was in.
Lombards signing is definately one of the biggest aquisitions made by the UFC in recent years and with a few wins, he might get a title shot hopefully sooner rather then later.

UFC Heavyweight Alistair Overeem has failed a pre fight drug test. The drug test was conducted after a UFC 146 press conference last tuesday and Overeems sample was flagged for an elevated T/E ratio that exeeded 10-to-1, well over the 6-to-1 limit allowed.
Most likely his fight with UFC Champion Junior Dos Santos will be called off, or another heavyweight on the card might take Overeems spot in the main event.

First Ever UFC Flyweight Fight Ends In Controversy
===========================================
About a hour after being announced as a Majority decision victory for Demetrious Johnson, the first ever UFC flyweight fight ended up being a majority decision draw, after a scoring card error was announced later after the event already ended. The match was scheduled to go to an extra fourth round if it was tied after three, but due to that error by the Australian commision, the tie breaking round never happened.
When asked about the mistake, UFC President Dana White said "Controversy seems to follow us lately" and he also said that a rematch would be done between Johnson and Ian McCall as soon as the two fighters are ready to go.
In the nights other flyweight Championship semi final match, Joe Benevides TKO'd Yasuhiro Urushitani very early in the second round. Benevides will now have to wait and see who wins the rematch between Johnson and McCall to see who he will fight in the first ever UFC flyweight title fight.

BRANDON VERA TO REMATCH THIAGO SILVA
======================================
Rumor has it that Brandon Vera will rematch Thiago Silva on May 15th, 2012 in an as yet unannounced event.
In their previous bout at UFC 125, the bout was ruled a no contest after a unanimous decision victory for Thiago Silva was overturned due to a failed drug test by the Brazilian. The fight was completely one sided, with Silva dominating all three rounds, and one wonders how much difference the steroids actually did to help in Silva's win.
UFC on FX 3 will probably be the event that night, one would think that this rematch would land on the main card portion of the card. Rumour also has it that it will take place in Virginia somewhere.

Torres tweeted the statement "If a rape van was called a surprise van, more women wouldn't mind going for rides in them because everyone likes surprises". The fighter deleted the comment a few hours later, but by then alot of people already saw it.
Dana White said that Torres's statement was in very bad taste and that he would not be fighting for the UFC anymore. White also said that UFC fighters need to watch what they say and write in public, and that rape jokes would not be tolerated anymore.

FIGHTER OF THE WEEK RUNNER UPS
==============================
This week Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva got the fighter of the week honours for his impressive KO victory over Cung Le. But other fighters also had very good weekends, and here are some of the runners up to the fighter of the week.
Mike Chandler captured the Bellator Lightweight Championship by upsetting previous Champion Eddie Alvarez. The fight was a back and fourth war, in which both fighters were hurt and bounced back on a number of occasions. In the fourth round, Chandler submitted Alvarez to stay undefeated and capture the title.
At UFC 139, Dan Henderson battled "Sho Gun" Rua in the first ever non title fight to go 5 rounds. Henderson survived a fifth round in which Rua had him mounted and was throwing down bombs for the majority of the round. Henderson held on to the end, and he won the fight by a very close unanimous decision.
Also at UFC 139, former WEC Champions Brian Bowles and Urijah Faber fought for the number one contender spot in the bantamweight division. Faber submitted Bowles in the second round, earning him a second title shot against UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz.
In Florida at Bellator 58, Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard dominated Shark Fights Light Heavyweight Champion Trevor Prangley. JOE WARREN TO DEFEND HIS TITLE IN FEBRUARY 2012 AGAINST PAT CURRAN
=================================================================
Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Warren (7-2) will defend his title for the first time in february 2012 against Pat Curran (16-4). Warren was suppose to defend the belt against season four tournament winner Patricio "Pitbull" Freire, but a hand injury has sidelined the 24 year old Brazilian. Freire will now instead have to wait until his injury is healed and he will fight the winner of the Warren - Curran fight.
Pat Curran earned the right to fight Warren for the title by winning this past summer series featherweight tournament. During the tourny, he beat veterans Marlon Sandro by a KO, Ronnie Mann by a unanimous decision, & Luis Palomino by a submission. This was the second Bellator tournament Curran has won in as many years. Curran won the lightweight tournament in 2010, but ended up losing to Champion Eddie Alvarez by a unanimous decision.
As for Champion Joe Warren, he is coming off of a brutal knock out lose to Alexis Vila in the opening round of the bantamweight tournament. Warren said that he was preparing for a fight with Freire, but will change his training camp now to get ready for Curran. A Greco-Roman wrestler, Warren said he will use his superior grappling skills to win every round to defend his belt.

DAN HENDERSON BACK IN THE UFC FACES SHOGUN AT UFC 139
====================================================
Soon after Dan Henderson knocked out Fedor Emelianenko, rumors started about his possible return to the UFC. Well for once it seems the rumors were true, as it is being reported that Hendo is back in the UFC and he will headline UFC 139 against "Shogun" Rua.
Back in 2009, Henderson knocked out Michael Bisping in glorious fashion. After the fight it seemed a rematch with Champion Anderson Silva was next. But after contract negotiations failed between the UFC and Henderson, he then signed with StrikeForce. While in StrikeForce, Hendo went on to win the Light Heavyweight title and won 3 out of the four fights he fought in.
Whats next for Henderson is a main event matchup at UFC 139 against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. The good news is that Henderson belongs in the UFC fighting the best middleweights and Light Heavyweights in the world. The bad news is it looks like StrikeForce might be done.
Now with the UFC taking another StrikeForce Champion, it looks like StrikeForces days might be limited to how long the Showtime contract lasts for. Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz and Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem have also been signed by the UFC leaving StrikeForce with only half of its Champions left.

Bantamweight Rodrigo Lima comes to Bellator with an undefeated record. This Tata Fight Team representative has finished seven of his opponents within the first round, 2 by knock out, and the other 5 by submission. So far he has only competed in Brazil under the Watch Out Combat Show banner.

CARANO NOT FIGHTING JUNE 18th
=============================
It was announced yesterday by Scott Coker, that Gina Carano was forced to pull out of her fight against Sarah D'Alelio. The reason given for the cancelation of the fight, was that Carano's medical clearance was revoked by her doctor, due to an injury being found during a pre-fight medical examination.
Exactly what the injury is or why the doctor made this decision hasn't been released to the media just yet, but Scott Coker said that a timetable for Gina’s return will be determined after further tests are conducted later in the week.
The 29 year old Carano hasn't fought since August of 2009, when she suffered her first career loss at the hands of the current StrikeForce Champion Cristina "Cyborg" Santos. As for her opponent, it remains doubtful that D'Alelio will remain on the card. A fight between KJ Noons and Jorge Masvidal has been moved from the prelims to the main card to fill in for the Carano fight.
